Last weekend our talented Drama Club presented their production of Mean Girls Jr. and it was incredible! Our talented students brought the iconic story to life with incredible energy, humor, and impressive skill. I would like to extend a huge congratulations to the entire cast, crew, and dedicated faculty advisors (Mrs. Morishita and Mz. B) who poured their time and effort into making this production such a resounding success. The level of talent and commitment on display was truly inspiring and a testament to the wonderful opportunities our students have to explore their passions here at SLCS!

Annual IB Campus Art Show

In early April our students in Visual Arts classes had an opportunity to showcase their incredible talent at our annual Art Show. The exhibition showed off our students' hard work, creativity, and unique artistic voices. From thought-provoking paintings, intricate sculptures, and compelling photography, the diversity and skill on display were remarkable. It was a wonderful opportunity to witness the depth of understanding and personal expression our students have cultivated throughout their studies.

Culture Day

mc

Just before Spring Break our SGA sponsored our annual Culture Day. One of the strengths of the SLCS community is the diversity that it offers. As usual, this event involved captivating musical and dance performances, opportunities to show off unique customs and clothing, and, of course, delicious food! Thank you to all the students, families, and staff members who contributed their time, talent, and delicious dishes to make this year's Culture Day such a memorable and enriching experience.

Learning Beyond Our Campus

This year we are proud to offer quite a few learning experiences that take students off campus to deepen their understanding of various subjects. These excursions are so much more than just a day away from the classroom; they are powerful learning opportunities that bring concepts to life in tangible and memorable ways. This experiential learning fosters critical thinking, sparks curiosity, and encourages a deeper engagement with the curriculum. The month of April featured trips for our 8th Graders and our students in Forensics. Next month features trips for our DP Art, DP Biology, and Performing Arts students!

Did you know that SLCS is planning international trips as part of IB's Creativity Activity and Service (CAS) projects? The Class of 2028 will be taking a trip to Portugal in the Summer of 2027 and the Class of 2029 will be taking a trip to Switzerland in the Summer of 2028. If you are interested in learning more, please reach out to our Vice Principal and DP Coordinator Mrs. Hewitt at KHewitt@schoollane.org.

Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation Week takes place May 5th through May 9th. While we look forward to celebrating our staff next week, and have a few ways for students to get involved too, I wanted to take a moment to encourage you to reach out and acknowledge the incredible dedication and hard work of our teachers. They pour their hearts and souls into educating and supporting our students every single day, and a simple message of thanks can mean the world. Whether it's a quick email, a handwritten note, or even a virtual "thank you," please consider taking a few moments next week to let our teachers know how much you value their commitment. Your appreciation will undoubtedly bring a smile to their faces and serve as a wonderful reminder of the positive impact they have on our children's lives.
